Long Island East End Justice Courts

The East End of Long Island has multiple justice courts — one for nearly every town and village. If you received a traffic ticket or have a court appearance, this guide will help you locate the correct court, its address, and its phone number. Dan Fox appears regularly in every one of these courts.

Understanding East End Justice Courts

Unlike city or district courts, most East End traffic and criminal matters are handled by local Town and Village Justice Courts — also known as "lower courts" or "local courts." These courts are presided over by elected justices (judges) and handle a wide range of matters including:

  • Traffic violations and speeding tickets
  • DWI and DWAI charges (arraignment through trial)
  • Misdemeanor criminal charges
  • Violations (non-criminal offenses)
  • Small claims matters

Because each town and village has its own court — with its own judge, prosecutors, and procedures — local knowledge matters enormously. An attorney who regularly appears in a specific court understands the court's individual procedures, the prosecutor's typical approach, and how to best position your case for a favorable outcome.

What to Do When You Have a Court Appearance

  • 1

Do not ignore the ticket or summons. Failure to appear results in an automatic suspension of your license.

  • 2

Do not plead guilty without speaking to an attorney first — paying the ticket is a guilty plea and means accepting all points and consequences.

  • 3

Contact Dan Fox before your court date. He can often appear on your behalf so you don't need to take time off work.

  • 4

Gather any documentation — photos, dashcam footage, witness information — that may support your defense.
